jennifer + brian

(see this wedding on facebook HERE)

jennifer and brian were married a while back at the LDS temple in kensington, maryland.  despite some scattered rain, we got lucky overall, and had some wonderful weather - though it was pretty windy!

immediately after the wedding ceremony, we wandered around the temple grounds and took lots of photos - here are a few:

then we headed over to the ring ceremony at the LDS chapel in kentlands, gaithersburg:

the reception followed at kentlands mansion:

congratulations you two!

jennifer + brian - first look

here's a photo from a recent wedding i photographed at the lds temple in washington dc (technically kensington maryland, but you get the idea). the sun was burning my retinas as it was hovering right over the temple, but we got lucky and it hid behind the clouds for just long enough for me to make this image. more to come soon...

morgan + john: gelatin relief part II

so, as promised, i'm posting a bit more of the gelatin relief selections from morgan and john's wedding earlier this year. above is one of my favorites from the take, and below is one that morgan picked of the same frame. as you can see, they are quite different, and this is a great illustration of what i'm talking about when i say that these prints can look vastly different depending on the choices you make throughout the process. choosing a favorite is so subjective, which is why i make several of each frame with different treatments and then see which images clients gravitate toward when it comes time for them to choose.

morgan knew she wanted one of these prints before she had even hired me, and asked me recently if i liked to make gelatin relief prints or if it was just a "big pain" (i think those were her words). i cannot imagine offering this service if i didn't like making the prints. it is very hard work, and requires a lot of skill and dexterity, but the resulting images are so unique that it is worth it to me. i love planning out what i want to do before i begin the many steps required to finish one of these prints.

besides, for my part, i love donning a gas mask, lab coat, and snapping on the latex (gloves... get your minds out of the gutter!) - the process requires a lot of caution due to the toxicity of the chemicals, but it is fun to me! it makes me feel like the mad scientist i was born to be if only i had majored in pre-med instead of photography. oh well... you can still call me "doctor" if you like. ;)

morgan + john: gelatin relief

i've been sitting on the images from this take for a while because i like to wait until the client has chosen which gelatin relief images they want before i post for the world to see.  i make several of each frame because the results can vary so greatly, and this lets me experiment a little with texture, color, and overall look of the print.  they are one-of-a-kind unique pieces of art that cannot be duplicated exactly, so the possibilities are infinite.

this is one of my favorites from the bunch, and i'll post another that the couple chose a bit later...

evil antognoli - the store!

i realize the normal code of evil is nakedness, but the reality is that we all get a little cold sometimes. in case you are chilly but don't want to compromise on the evil, there are options for you!

there are also canvas grocery bags for hauling your evil zucchini and tomatoes, evil skateboards to help you get around, and evil puppy attire for your hounds of hell.

jamie + john

(see this wedding on facebook HERE)

i know it's been a while since my last update. i've been busy plotting to take over the world... er... i mean, photographing assignments. and changing identities - up until now, i was shooting under the name "halo photographic" but decided to start working under my own name. hence, the new site and new blog, which will now house all of my wedding, portrait, and other related items. building this new empire is a lot of work, mind you, so blogging has taken a backseat in the meantime. to tide my adoring public over, here's one of the weddings that i shot the other month (yeah, i know, bad of me to wait so long to get the preview up here).

jamie and john were married in a wedding ceremony just down the road from my house at the historic chapel of st. rose of lima parish, with a reception that followed at the nearby gaithersburg hilton. we had lovely weather - not so unbearably hot as it sometimes gets during the summer months. check it out:

Morgan + John

(see this wedding on facebook HERE)

morgan and john were recently married at a private residence in new market, maryland, with a reception at brewer's alley in frederick. all of my couples are awesome, but these two were especially so because:

1.) they have the most adorable rescue dogs (next to my two beasts, that is) :)
2.) morgan wore a yellow wedding dress which was beautiful, yet atypical of the bridal norm
3.) killer senses of humor all around
4.) did i mention the puppies? (see the previous post for pics of them)

awwww...

married - yay!

the bouquet toss was fun because it got stuck in the chandelier. the girl willing to climb up on the table to retrieve it won it! :)

congratulations you guys!
